A message from Mr Curly Wurly

Curly Wurly

Woof Woof!

Hello to all the children and staff at Nabb School.  It’s Mr Curly Wurly here and I want to say hello to you all.

Lots of things are different for me at the moment and I’ve heard it’s different for you too so I hope you’re all ok and staying safe. I miss you all and hopefully very soon I’ll get to see you again. I’m very happy that we’ve got sausages and my toys at home to play with because we have to stay at home for a while. Sometimes I’m reading books too especially when there’s a dog in the story. I’m getting very good at drawing and shapes.

I’m thinking about you all and your families.

I hope to see you soon and take care of yourselves.

Love and paws

Mr Curly Wurly 🐩

Home Learning – Day 2

Hello 👋

We hope you are all well? We are missing you all here.  We thought we would send you some links to websites that might help keep you all entertained.

At school we are starting our day with a Joe Wicks workout on You Tube. There is a live workout for children every morning at 9am.  Search for Joe Wicks on You Tube.

For children who would like help with their Maths there are lots of lessons for each year group on the White Rose maths hub click here.

For children who would like help with their English there are some Facebook lessons called English with Holly.  At 11am every day she does live SPAG lessons which the children are familiar with click here.

Please keep looking at the website – as we find more useful websites we will add them to our page.

If you have any specific queries you can always email us at office.holmfirthjin@kirkleeseducation.uk – and we will do our best to get your query answered – bear with us when waiting for a reply as we are operating with a skeleton staff in order to keep everyone here safe as well.  Don’t forget to check your class Home Learning page – these will be updated regularly – hover on the Home Learning tab and you can then click on the individual class page.

Stay safe and keep well.

Coronavirus School Closure – Update No.2

We have been waiting all day for the list of key workers but we have not heard anything so we can only presume we will be informed tonight or some time tomorrow.

There has been a lot of speculation on social media about who is classed as a key worker but we have decided to wait until we have a definitive list from the Government before asking which of you may be eligible. As soon as we have a confirmed list and the qualifying criteria we will send you an email and ask for any parents who fit the criteria to let us know by a certain time tomorrow whether or not you will require childcare places for your children from Monday onwards.

Today, we have prepared home learning packs and sent home work for children to do – for those children who were not in school today they can be collected from the office tomorrow or we will post them over the weekend.

Also, the website will be updated regularly and each class has a folder in the Home Learning tab which has been prepared by teachers.  These folders are being worked on at the moment and will be updated by teachers in the future.

We have emailed all parents an introductory letter which has information about learning websites we have added your children to, how to log on etc.  If you have any problems logging on please contact the office for assistance – preferably by email to office.holmfirthjin@kirkleeseducation or alex.sykes@kirkleeseducation.uk.  We will endeavour to answer your questions as quickly as possible – please be patient for the first few days as the office is incredibly busy at the moment.  Similarly, if you wish to contact your child’s teacher please send an email to the above addresses and we will forward it to the relevant staff member.

We will give you further updates in the morning.

Coronavirus – School Closure Update No.1

At the beginning of what is likely to be a very busy day we are writing to let you know that as soon as we receive concrete information from the Government regarding school closures we will email you all and give further information.
At the time of writing we do not know who ‘key workers’ are.  It would not be wise to speculate who will and who won’t be classed as a key worker.  Again, as soon as we know we will let you know and ask those who are in this category to contact us immediately – this will enable us to make emergency plans for next week as soon as possible.
Lost property is on display in the playground – please can you ensure that you check it and take any of your child’s items away before we close.  We may be told to throw any items away when we perform a deep clean in the weeks to come.
The website is currently being updated with a home learning tab which will provide you with learning resources for your child to use in the coming weeks.
We know that this will be a very worrying time for you, your children and your families. We will do whatever we can to support you all.
Thank you in advance for your continued cooperation and support.
Kind regards
All the Staff – Holmfirth J I & N School
