Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning develops personal, social and environmental understanding and skills. It fosters a range of positive attitudes and actions towards risk, health, community and sustainability.
Outdoor Learning lets children observe the changes of nature, the transformation of the elements and the interdependence of all living things, giving the child a deep sense of belonging, allowing them to feel part of a wonderful, ever-changing world.
Outdoor Learning promotes social interactions and friendships among pupils from diverse backgrounds, enhancing their interpersonal skills. Outdoor Learning experiences offer opportunities for personal and learning skills development in areas such as communication, problem solving, information technology, working with others and thinking skills.
Outdoor Learning are led by Rosie Taylor with the support of the class teachers.
Your child's class teacher will inform you, via Seesaw, of the days your child will be taking part in Outdoor Lessons.
At Holmfirth J I & N School we are lucky to have extensive grounds where the children can take part in Outdoor Learning all year round. It is very important that your child comes to school in appropriate outdoor clothing in the winter and summer. Long hair should be tied back at all times (boys and girls).
