We have been waiting all day for the list of key workers but we have not heard anything so we can only presume we will be informed tonight or some time tomorrow.
There has been a lot of speculation on social media about who is classed as a key worker but we have decided to wait until we have a definitive list from the Government before asking which of you may be eligible. As soon as we have a confirmed list and the qualifying criteria we will send you an email and ask for any parents who fit the criteria to let us know by a certain time tomorrow whether or not you will require childcare places for your children from Monday onwards.
Today, we have prepared home learning packs and sent home work for children to do – for those children who were not in school today they can be collected from the office tomorrow or we will post them over the weekend.
Also, the website will be updated regularly and each class has a folder in the Home Learning tab which has been prepared by teachers. These folders are being worked on at the moment and will be updated by teachers in the future.
We have emailed all parents an introductory letter which has information about learning websites we have added your children to, how to log on etc. If you have any problems logging on please contact the office for assistance – preferably by email to office.holmfirthjin@kirkleeseducation or firstname.lastname@example.org. We will endeavour to answer your questions as quickly as possible – please be patient for the first few days as the office is incredibly busy at the moment. Similarly, if you wish to contact your child’s teacher please send an email to the above addresses and we will forward it to the relevant staff member.
We will give you further updates in the morning.
At the beginning of what is likely to be a very busy day we are writing to let you know that as soon as we receive concrete information from the Government regarding school closures we will email you all and give further information.
At the time of writing we do not know who ‘key workers’ are. It would not be wise to speculate who will and who won’t be classed as a key worker. Again, as soon as we know we will let you know and ask those who are in this category to contact us immediately – this will enable us to make emergency plans for next week as soon as possible.
Lost property is on display in the playground – please can you ensure that you check it and take any of your child’s items away before we close. We may be told to throw any items away when we perform a deep clean in the weeks to come.
The website is currently being updated with a home learning tab which will provide you with learning resources for your child to use in the coming weeks.
We know that this will be a very worrying time for you, your children and your families. We will do whatever we can to support you all.
Thank you in advance for your continued cooperation and support.

We are sometimes asked by parents. friends of the school, and others if there is anything ‘we need’. Below is a link to an Amazon Wish List for our school – if you would like to buy anything off the Wish List just follow this link and it will take you to our wish list.

This is a list of some of the things we use regularly and some things we would really like but the budget doesn’t allow for – we really would be grateful to receive any of the items on the list. Thank you for looking and thank you for supporting our school and pupils!
We have solved the Play-Doh Mystery – it was another donation from our good friend Jo Marshall from Crafty Cave Creations (look for Crafty Cave Creations on Facebook).
Thank you Jo!
Many, many thanks to our Mystery Gift Giver! Today we have received a 2 packs of Play-Doh from Amazon. We thought that they had been delivered by mistake but it seems it was really meant for us but Amazon can’t give us the name of the person who sent it to us because of Data Protection.
So – if you have bought us some Play-Doh from Amazon
- Thank you VERY MUCH
- Please let us know who you are so we can say THANK YOU in person
Year 5 have had a very busy day today – including a visit from Queen Victoria herself……
The singing of the National Anthem was a highlight!
Sometimes something happens to remind you that there are some nice people in the world!
A few weeks ago we were approached by a lovely lady called Jo from Crafty Cave Creations who asked if we needed any art supplies – as you can imagine we said Yes!
Jo has brought in a lovely selection of art materials which will be used by children throughout the school.
Please take a moment to have a look at Jo’s Facebook page – Crafty Cave Creations by Jo Marshall (@craftycavecreations) – she has some lovely things on there.
THANK YOU JO!
Sadly, today we are saying goodbye to Mrs Hague. Mrs Hague has worked at Holmfirth J I & N School for 29 years (we know – she doesn’t look old enough!) and during her time at school she has worked with every class from Nursery through to Year 6.
I am sure you will join us in wishing Mrs Hague all the best for the next exciting chapter in her life and thanking her for her long service, care and dedication to our school and all our children, past and present.
Thank you Mrs Hague!
