Holmepride-CiA, the team who built our allotment for us, have been working with The Fresh Group to makeover School Street Garden (adjacent to Crown Bottom car park) that Holmepride-CiA took over management and maintenance of from Kirklees Council in April this year.
On Sunday 23 October, they will be launching a ‘Book Library’ in School Street where the community can donate and share children’s books. The library will be accessible and adjacent to the Methodist Church who have agreed its location on their grounds outside the building.
Holmepride-CiA will be in School Street to give out a “free” cotton Holmepride-CiA bag for donations of 5 children’s books or more on Sunday 23 October from 10am – while stocks last.
Children will be able to come and “touch & smell” herbs and to bring herbs to plant in the School Street Garden, where there will be compost available for this purpose.
The Fresh Group installed 2 x 3 tiered planters, bug hotels, signage and £300 of plants, plus a “dog library” too (sticks for dogs!)
If you have books that you would like to donate any old books please take them along to School Street on Sunday.
