We would like to share a post from Winton Harrison from Holmepride – Community in Action. We can confirm that the project will now be completed in the summer holidays ready for the start of the new school year in September. Many thanks to Winton & Karen Harrison for all their hard work, securing the funding and getting the allotment nearer completion. Many thanks to everyone who made a donation on the Spacehive fundraising page. Your donation will make a difference to every child at Holmfirth J I & N School – for years to come. Thank you all.
Winton Harrison -“This must be one of, if not the best report I’m so happy to share with you.
On Friday, 16th July I received an email from Kirklees Council, who are running their “Growing Great Places” initiative, where they can pledge up to £5,000 to groups raising funds through their partnership with Spacehive, a fund raiser company linked with GoCardless. In the email, it confirmed that they liked our project to build a new wheelchair accessible and usable allotment at Holmfirth J,I&N School, pledging £4,000.
Due to the generosity of so many groups, support by many individuals and a few businesses, the amount needed of £12,554, was smashed, resulting in the current amount raised with 5 days still to go of £13,494.
This means that not only will the allotment build commence once the school breaks for the summer holidays, at least another £940 has been raised to kit out the allotment going forward.
So a massive big “THANK YOU” who have supported us on this 2 year, yes, 2 year journey to get this project over the line and ready for the children’s return in September.” – Winton Harrison – Holmepride – Community in Action
